flowerWith Spring just itching to bust loose in Grand Rapids, serious and amateur gardeners in Grand Rapids, Michigan will appreciate the opportunity to learn the secrets of gardening for a well known author and garden designer, Rob Proctor when he is the Featured Speaker at the Secchia Garden Lecture.

The event will be held at the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park on April 15, 2008 at 7:00.  Admission is FREE to members and non-members or FREE to non-members with paid admission the the Meijer Gardens.  Proctor has written 15 books on gardening, including his latest entitled: "Gardening on a Shoestring."

He will be sharing ways to save money by starting plants from seeds or seedlings and giving tips on how to store less hardy plants in harsh winter conditions.  Rob Proctor is known for his ability to create masterpiece gardens which delight you with their artistry and inspired arrangements. HI Lola! I will have to see what my schedule looks like on April 15! What a great reprieve from TAX DAY!!! Oh how I am waiting for the April showers! I thought Mother Nature was fooling me again today with the snow showers that came my way! April Fools Day for certain!

Gardening sure can be expensive, but it doesn't have to be. This lecture sounds like a great opportunity for those who want to get a beautiful garden without breaking the bank.

Lola I would be a real test of what he is able to do.  Putting any plant in my hands is like giving it the kiss of death.  There is nothing green about my thombs………. LOL

Lisa...The Frederik Meijer Gardens is an absolutely lovely spot in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  They are noted for holding a wide variety of events for various groups and organizations as well as educational programs such as this one.

Karen, There are few things more reviatlizing than a lovely garden.  It does take work, but it's definitely worth it.  I've been the recipient of some gracious garden "swaps" through the years.

Hi Mary, Thanks for stopping by. Nature was messing around with us a little bit wasn't it with the intermittent snow showers.  Michigan is NEVER boring when it comes to weather. :)

George...LOL...Maybe that's why he's known as a Master Gardner.  It's about the ability to help all of us a little even when a green thumb is not something we could normally claim. :)

Thanks Karen.  Having grown up overseas, many of the botanical names of flowers in North America are not in my memory bank.  I simply love the beauty of flowers and daisies of all varieties are some of my favorites.
