I'm not sure exactly how many MLS systems we have in Michigan...but there are a lot of them! I pay to have access to one local Board and fork out more money to have limited privileges on a second. I recently took a listing which caused me to investigate the possibility of listing privileges with a third board.
Our initial contacts yielded limited success, but we were finally routed to the right person just in time...for them to go on vacation! Unfortunately, there was no one else to answer the question or process the paperwork, so we waited.
When, the individual got back from vacation, we were informed that processing could only take place through the mail and since they were going to be out for another week...well, the listing would just have to wait until they got back. A few years ago, this would have made me frantic. That was then...This is NOW!
During the hiatus of 2 weeks in which this MLS system has been unable to attend to a listing from a paying client, I took advantage of some Excellent tools available to real estate agents who need maximum exposure for their listings. My clients are moving out of state and need to sell their home. They don't have 2 weeks to wait. So, here's what I did....

Lola, It's a great thing to do, but don't give up on the MLSs.
We're working on a state-wide MLS (maybe next year) and I can't wait.

Lola - You are just way too 'up' on things! LOL Great idea and great tool to use!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. God bless.
Lola,
I also left a comment on your pretty blog. I chose the same template for another blog that I'm working on. This is a great tip. If we keep this up the MLS may become extinct.
Lola,
I followed the link and I was impressed. Really, really interesting. Thanks for the tip. It is already quite late, so will be "digesting" it in the morning.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The problem with Google this address is if one aspect of the street address is omitted such as its suffix, for example, it might not show up in Google. Also, I've had problems with numbers such as whether they are typed 2nd or 2 or 26th or 26. But Google is getting better now at recognizing intent versus verbatim.
Have you tried vFlyer? It does about the same thing as real estate show except it's free. There's also slidein.
Lola,
What a wonderful idea. I am still working on my internet presence and this blog is an excellent source of information. That sign rider is a great idea. Also put the question on the flyer as a reminder would be great as they would have the address all ready and they would then have a reminder.
Natalie, Yes, this is cheaper than Talking House & has the potential to reach a lot more people in tandem with good marketing. Thanks for your comment.
Very True Elaine. Appreciate your stopping by.
Renee, I left a response on my other blog...really appreciate your stopping by.
Hi Bill, I'm not giving up on the MLS...It's just that there are other options and when you have to wait for a couple of weeks because you happen to fall within someone's vacation time...well, you look around and realise that there is much that can be done to market a property these days through other sources. I think the idea of a state MLS is being considered in Michigan too. It would be a good thing I think.
You're welcome Tony & Darcy. Best Wishes!
Hi Carol, Hope you had a Great Thanksgiving. :)
Thanks for your comment Ken.
Katerina, Thank you for commenting on my other blog. I appreciate it very much.
Jason, I hope you had a wonderful time of Celebration. We did...I'm still stuffed. :)
Susan, Thanks for your comment. I'm just learning how to work with the template. It is providing a lot of interesting "educational" moments. :)
Hi Jon, Thanks for reading. Hope you had a pleasant Celebration of Thanksgiving as well!
Kris, That's quite a compliment. Thank You.
Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for your comment. I'm familiar with vFlyer but have not used it. I've found Postlets and Real Estate shows to be very effective. Real Estate shows creates a Flyer which attaches to the show.
Bill & Barbara Jo, Yes...that's a great idea to put the information on the paper flyers too.
Hi Monika, Thanks for commenting here & also for visiting my other blog. :)
Thanks for your comment Kim.
Kimberly, Thanks for stopping by here & the other blog. The "troubles" were actually a blessing...in disguise. :)
